Falling stuff

Postby rich_k » Sun Apr 03, 2011 7:18 pm

Some stuff has already fallen:

Big tree in the dip just south of the sand trap on the Yellow, south of the Greenline. Totally blocks the trail. 30 min. chainsaw job.

Small tree on Blue between WG and the 3-plank bridge. 10 min. job.

Oh yeah, it's snake season. Dodged an angry copperhead in the powerline field that was striking wildly. One angry snake!

Otherwise, trails were awesome!

One more besides the ones Rich mentioned, at the end of the goat. Went straight threw the skinny that was right before the tree ramp! SUCKS BIGTIME!! Easy one cutter will open up the ramp but it'll take a new board to fix the skinny

Theres a little one close to I-40 too. A chainsaw or a handsaw will get it though. Its ridable as is though.

Trail was in great shape on a better note! Get out and ride. First time for me in a while and reminded me of summer. Believe it or not some spots were almost dusty they were so dry!

I made a trip to Tupelo and arrived back in town around 3:00. Saw lots of trees down. The news has a lot of damage reports.

Probably will need a trail day this weekend. Maybe two. One for Shelby Farms and another for Herbs. Trees were reported down at both locations before today's storm. Probably more down now. There could be damage at Stanky or Lakeland too.

Anyone planning to strike out on their own in Shelby Farms should remember the park is on high alert because of the recent vandalism. Someone wandering around with a chainsaw could have their good intentions misunderstood. Contacting the park ahead of time is highly recommended.

Anyone going out on the trails in the next days please report so we know what needs working on this weekend. Times, days, and places to be arranged.

OK. Steve is leading the tree clearing at Herbs on Saturday.

I will let Shelby Farms know we will be working there on Sunday morning.

I'll probably be available to do some work Sunday. Anyone who rides, pay attention to where there's damage and post up.
