I wouldn't do that Matt! Butch just called and said yellow g-town to greenline has 22 trees down...just yellow! He said some are 3' in diameter. He's predicting 2 days 6-7 people. You could go check out the blue though. Were gonna need a big crew for this weekend.

Thanks for the trail update Dan and Butch.

On the trail work, Let brad know. there is a group going out Sunday at 9am too. Saturday at HP also.

I guess itll be a slow day on the trails. Got my hand saw and may use the time to take out some aggression on poor dead trees

Don’t underestimate the Ripper Clan, they can chew some wood!

I’m cutting Herb Saturday, but whatever you can’t get to on Saturday I’ll help Sunday.

Keep us informed.

Not underestimating at all. they are a formidible group with impact. Just communicating. last time someone showed initiative in the WRT area it started a bad mojo string cause proper communication channels were not known/followed. just tryin to avoid that again.

If you start from G'town parking lot, the trouble starts right away with a head banger on the levy to the yellow. But if you take the blue, theres one waist high just after the drop. On the yellow, just after the field is the largest tree. It completely obscures the trail. It may not actually be 36" in diameter, but it is damn sure easily larger than my 29" wheels. All the next really bad stuff is after the next levy intersection. There are 3 or 4 areas that are a wall of green. But the trees themselves are not so big in diameter. There are 16 or so just between G'town and WG, 6 between WG and the Greenline. I got too bored with hiking, crawling, climbing and dragging my bike along to go further. Busta, that three footer is by far the worst that I saw. This oughta get transferred over to the Trail work header, and someone really should photo document all this damage and repairs to buttress Brad's bargaining position. I know thats blatantly political, but it is the smart thing to do.

I will let the park know there will be trail clearing on Saturday and possibly Sunday.

By all means someone get pictures. Like Butch said "I know that's blatantly political, but it is the smart thing to do." Trail access is very political. Not just in SF but everywhere in the country. IMBA is still reporting new trail closings all the time.

I want to get the group emails out tonight. Where and when are you guys going to meet and start Saturday?

John, be sure to get the team member count and the hours to me. Some kind of breakdown as to in and out of the LBNA is helpful too. SF wants to know those volunteer hours. Helps us and the park. BTW, the park does appreciate the work. They nominated MSTA for another volunteer award. They keep trying.

Also let me know how much you get done Saturday so I know what is left for Sunday.
