Trail clearing this weekend Apr 9/10

Everything else is bout half way to W.G. as far as the yellows concerned.
Brad, I know your not thinking a tree ramp but if you haven't seen the tree I'm referring to, its at least 4 ' in diameter and crosses the trail at an angle,then when the trail curves the canopy curves and covers it up. A reroute would be easily...65 yards. Threw thick privet,too

Daniel my bradduh, I am prior committed to Herb Parsons on Saturday. I committed myself earlier to WRT on Sunday. Get with Brad, but I think you should clear a reroute around the base of the tree. It would be least disruptive to the woods. The tree could be cut later. The trail has numerous blockages along the river, some lasting 15 to 20 feet. Vines and branches attached to mid size trees that fell along as well as over the trail. All stuff that can be cut and moved. One man can't cut and move the gasline tree. Maybe Mark or Outcast or someone else cleared some of the crap out of the other trees, I haven't been out there since yesterday morning. I do still plan to come to WRT on Sunday if need be... Good luck

I have a Husky 3120 Rancher (chainsaw) with a 36 inch blade and that tree would still be serious work. A team will be a couple of hours on that bad boy.

Here are my thoughts on the big tree near GTN. The yellow trail in that area is used by a wide variety of trail users with a wide range of abilities. The park would like to keep this trail as accessible as possible both for the wide variety of users and for emergency response. Either the trail should be cleared or a reroute be done at the same quality of the original trail.

The big tree may be best done as a separate project on Sunday. We could get Outcast together with Steve K. with their big saws and clear the trail.

Building a ramp over a 4 foot tree would make a formidable barrier to many trail users and be a severe hindrance to emergency response. Plus that is one foot above what our insurance would cover. If anyone got injured and their ambulance chaser lawyer decided to sue us, MSTA would be forced out of business.

The great big tree up near the greenline may need to be a similar group project with the big saws.

It looks like the root ball is only ten feet off the trail. An easy re-route. That's what we'll plan to do tomorrow.

We intend to clear the entire trail tomorrow. There are only four trees remaining on the Blue, North of WG. Cake!!

Steve- I'm the poster child (but quite aged) for not using sunscreen. Have had another removed last week and now one coming up on Tuesday.

Thanks, LD. Still need a couple more guys for G-town to help Dan and Dax. I have at least two chainsaws lined up for G-town at this time. Hopefully, more will show, but either way, the trails will be smooth when MSTA leaves the scene!!!

I am planning on coming out in the morning to help on the WRT cleanup. I live in Midtown, so I will be headed for the Walnut Grove side. Just to be clear, is everyone going to be there at 8? I don't have a chainsaw (or any saw, for that matter), but hopefully I can help move stuff out of the way. Are you guys riding in or walking in?
