More WRT clearing Saturday 4/23 9:00

Postby Brad C » Fri Apr 22, 2011 3:47 pm

Below is a message repeated from another section. Outcast cleaned up a lot of the fall from the last round of storms. However, there is still some left that needs cutting. Most is between the power line field and the greenline.

I just figured on Saturday would be easier. Sunday is Easter and a lot of people will have church and family activities. I learned a long time ago not to fight holidays.

Since most of the remaining fall is to the north, meet at code enforcement and ride the greenline to the trails? Maybe 9:00?

And guess what the forecast is???
Thunderstorms starting Monday night and going through Wednesday. Round 4?

I agree. No need to go out after two small trees with more storms coming.

We were planning to go Saturday AM to finish the WRT until outcast cut them all except for 2 small trees. We saw no need to go after 2 small trees with another 2 days of storms coming.

Then Steve reported a big tree down on the yellow at the gas pipeline where we cut the reroute on the 10th. Now we are just waiting to see if a group is needed to clear that one.

I can go out at first light and take a look at it. I think I live closer to the trail head than any of us.

Looks like it is individual effort for any WRT clearing this weekend.

MSTA has not received any time reports for recent individual effort clearing of the WRT.

Shelby Farms feels it is important to the park to get these reports because they ask me for them.

If people doing individual effort do not report their time the value of that time for Shelby Farms will be lost.

The park uses the reported volunteer time in their grant applications to show they have a strong volunteer base. Time that is not reported could mean lost $$$ for Shelby Farms.

Please report individual effort trail clearing time. It increases the value of the mountain bike community to Shelby Farms. Your volunteer time gives the park a higher rank in the competition for grant $$$.
