One guy rode it while I was there. He kind of grunted at me when I asked "How was it?" at the exit, but he was very out of breath so I'll take that as a positive. He was wearing a Thunder Racing jersey but no idea who it was. A few folks raced by me but they were totally oblivious to the fact that I was 5ft off the side of the trail. Maybe it was my machete that skeered them?

The new Stanky drop, now Herb's, man I'm glad I am getting into this sport, but dang I don't have much time to make longer trips out :( .

Volleyball will be over soon, so no more family roadtrips on the weekends and then I'll be able to have a little more time.

Larry, I was out there this afternoon and got to ride the homestead loop. The entrance and exit to me flowed well. Nice work! AWESOME. The new loop is like a new feature in the playground! =D> =D> I did okay. May be I am getting FIT! =D> =D>

More trail makes more happy riders. Kudos to Steve and his endless hours, equipment and to the crew of people that have helped him. I like the flow of the new trail and the nice features that it has: lake view, switch backs, drop ins and the bench cut. Awesome thought and work was put into this. Thankyou to Steve and everyone
who helped. By the way that is a cistern by the homestead site so stop and fill your camelback and pay homeage to those that came before us. =D> =D> =D>

this looks great, can't wait to try it. if Herbs drains better than Stanky, maybe i won't be a roadie for two months.

question... it's 10.6 miles for maximum distance, what's minimum distance? i usually go ccw, making all rights the first time and all lefts the second time. how long is that second lap?
In a world full of people, only some want to ride. Isn't that crazy?

If you take lefts then you are following the red trail milage posts. I think the last red post is around 6.5 miles.

I hadn't been to Herb's since maybe December. All I can say is:

Thanks to all who worked on those loops. I rode all of them today...it was nice getting 10 miles on one lap. I musta missed something though...I didn't see any drops.

"muddy",
I don't do drops so I didn't make any, that's up to those who know how to do them.

Do you remember the loop that goes through the old house area? Homestead is what we call that loop. Well the road cut that is on that loop has steep embankments that can be used as drops. Taking a short path to the edge of the embankment will be easy to do, but I'll let the riders who know how to jump make that path.

FYI
There is a couple of issues to address in the Homestead loop. 3-4 wet/snotty mud areas that are holding water and the bench cut is slick as well. Need to work to finesse these areas as they dry.
I ride, therefore I crash!

Matt,
I completely agree. Trail work will never end, always a work in progress. But little by little it will get done.

SteveK -

Thanks for all the work! It's a sweet ride. One of the new loops...maybe the last one...has a spot up high in a clearing filled with some type of low growing plants...its really smooth and flowy up there...super nice.

Is there a place I can send some money to every now and then to help out with the costs of maintenance and/or to help with morale for those doing the work? I don't have much free time to participate in work days but I'd be happy to throw some cash in the hat.
