Bayou Point pump track

Postby Jrkimbrough » Thu Apr 05, 2012 9:42 pm

Okay guys, had a nice talk tonight with our ranger at Arkabutla Lake about the pump track. Conveniently the ranger and his wife just moved two house down from me and talked with him after my ride this evening.

They have the "okay" for us to build the pump track. We talked location and he said we have approval to build it right next to the trailhead, which would be beneficial for building and maintaining it and would also be a nice warmup spot while waiting for other riders, etc. etc. The corp will be providing as much dirt as we need, we just need the manpower to create this thing.

If you are interested in helping out please post up here so I can gauge the interest in the pumptrack itself and how many might be interested in picking up a shovel and helping out!

The idea of having a little spot to mess around at while waiting for others to show up is pretty cool. Nice job Evan! =D>

I'll help. And I want to use Dr. Rob's Kubota to build one at Herb's. Whattaya say Steve? The one in the link Dennis provided would be just fine! Out in the grass, or below the levy, or at the end of the levy...

I hear ya "Brother Butch"!

I know of a great location below the dam in a flat spot near some nice shade trees.

I'll work on getting permission from the State and I'm sure they (wildlife officers) will help with their equipment.

I guess I need to get my "old butt" down to "Evan's Heaven" to see how it's done!

Thanks for all the interest! I will be back in contact with the ranger to confirm that we want to go ahead with the project. If anyone has any expertise or advice on pump tracks you have ridden in the past, feel free to message me. At the moment we are looking at a figure 8 type track.

p.s. "Evan's Heaven" has a nice ring to it! 8)

Steve, if you ever want to come down and ride I'd be more than happy to meet up to show you around the trail! Riding and sharing trail building geek ideas sounds like fun!

Between Rob and my bro's bobcat we could get done in a day what ten guys could do in w month! Call me Evy. We could really make this nice. I know my brother re built the Sf bmx park for free and they let him put a big sign up for there company. Wonder if they would allow it and if he would do it again for you guys? I'll check into it. Call me for info
