You are welcome, and thanks for the complements. We also received many "thanks guys" from people using the trails on Saturday.

Steve K, Rich K, Drew B, and I worked on the white trail and overgrown parts of the blue trail. There is a little more to do, and those improvements will be seen in the near future.

As a bonus, while partaking of our recovery supplies, we signed up a new MSTA member.

Thanks guys, I couldn't make it out Sat. (work) but I rode out Sunday to check out your progress--nice job to everyone
I was determined to help the cause, so I rode back to the truck to pick up my machete and work on the blue trail between bedpan bypass and Walnut Grove. I had done some work on the faceslppers on the yellow in this same area last week. Nice work with the DR there earlier meant there wasn't that much to do. I had to stop after about an hour and a half or I would have had blisters.
Finished off with a great ride to celebrate, maybe I'll make back out again today to continue the progress.

On Sunday 5/27/12 I sent a description of the work we did on Saturday to Robert Mayer, Brian Wylie, and Drew Balton.

On Saturday May, 26, MSTA was out with the DR brush mower, weed whackers, and chainsaw. We trimmed and cleared the white trail westward from levee 1. We also cleared the blue trail from the 1 3/4 mile point westward to the 5 points junction.

Steve Kuhar is planning to be back after work on Wednesday May 30, with his DR. He will be mowing along the trails in the gas line field east of levee 2.

That would require park approval. Since that is in the Lucius Burch State Natural Area, TDEC approval probably is required too.

Weather permitting tonight after work I’ll be bush hogging the tall grass on the gas line right of way.

(Three separate paths go through the grass, I’ll also trim the Blue on my way to and from the gas line area)

I like it hot. I got back out on Memorial Day around 2PM to take advantage of the heat. I was going to ride out the yellow to get to work on the blue, but decided to turn my efforts into making the yellow sand bypass trail clearer. It took a while to whack and pull the vines, and after about an hour and a half later I finished. I felt if I stayed any longer that I would get blisters, so I called it a day. I waited till I made it back to the truck to open the second water bottle- it just doesn't feel that bad in the shade.

The rain went south of Memphis so Steve K. was able to bring the DR mower to Shelby Farms to open the trails through the gas pipeline field. Here are a few pictures of his work. These pictures and others of the recent clean up have also been sent to Shelby Farms.
