Herb Parsons Clean up Saturday 12/29

Postby muddymatt » Thu Dec 27, 2012 12:14 pm

Trail work and tree removal in the cold!

9am Saturday Morning is the time for us to start the work.
We will go in from Lakeview Drive and hike in to the worst section by the arch bridge.
It will be wet so i do not recommend riding into the areas. We will be hiking in.

We also will need to work from Lakeview towards the Archery range too. I have a plan for that.

I will be in the parking lot at 8am. Black Tacoma with a camper shell on back.

I'll get out there, let me know if there is any equipment needed. I'll be bringing a sharp handsaw, could bring some extra fuel for chainsaws if necessary.

We should be good with fuel and bar oil. Hand saws and shovels are always useful. I have some loppers we will use too.

It will be cold and wet, dress appropriately, wimps stay home!

I’ll be parking at Lakeview, Ford F350.

I’ll have wheelbarrow, three chainsaws, fuel and bar oil.

I’ll be getting my “Axe Men” groove on! =D>

We got a lot cut out today =D>

We did miss one on the Homestead Loop, but I didn't think about it until I was already home and thawed out. As far as I know that's the only one left to get, might get it with Matt tomorrow if he's up for another short hike.

Now we should be able to offcially declare the trail clear of debris!

There were actually quite a few things down between the dam and arch bridge. A few across the trail and quite a few leaners that were either already in the way or needed to come down.

If we don't get any rain this week it should be in good rideable shape by next weekend but it's still WAY too wet in many places for riding. The overnight freeze made the trail a bit slicker today than it was yesterday. That didn't stop the dozen or so riders we saw out today riding though. Saw lots of skid marks in the mud where folks crashed, have to admit that it made me smile everytime.

Ride in the mud and wet and you stand a good chance of getting hit by the "Karma Bus".
