From Victor at Stanky Creek Cycling.
------
Announcement:
As with every winter, the winter rain, wind, ice, etc... has been harsh to the trails at Stanky, this damage is emphasized when people then ride in the muddy conditions. In order to try and prepare for the great summer months ahead and in order to give people a chance to get in some pre-riding before the Legend of Stanky Creek race on June 14 and 15, there will be a Trail Work Day at Stanky on Saturday, May 17.
When: Saturday, May 17, 8am-12pm
Meet in the pit area at 8am and everyone will be broken into small groups and sent out to work on a particular part of the trail. The more workers, the fastener we can all get done.
We know this is the same day as Syllamo, and we wish everyone a great race and will miss you at this trail work day; however, in order to try and get the trail in decent shape prior to the Holiday weekend, we are reaching out to the rest of the community to see if we can get some help to replace these normal workers that will be racing that day.
To Do Items:
Blue Trail - Clear face slappers, shovel work in rutted areas, create a drain path at two low areas.
Yellow Trail - Clear face slappers, few small trees, shovel work in rutted areas, create a drain path at two "large low areas (one after the first bridge, and one after the third bridge).
White Trail - Clear face slappers, few small trees, shovel work in rutted areas, create a drain path at several low areas. Also, trail white needs two re-routes around two large trees to be cut in and cleaned up, or if a few people with large saws want to tackle cleaning up the existing route.
Creek Crossing - Needs shovel and concrete work (wheel barrel, bucket, hoe/shovels)
Connector for TT - tree removal (chainsaw), shovel work and face slappers.
Pit Area - Mower work.
Bridge - NOTE: we will not tackle the bridge project during this trail work day, there is others currently working on a plan and as a last resort we will cut in another creek crossing for the race and summer.
Needs: Shovels, hoes, rakes, loppers, chainsaws, weedeaters, and people.
(MSTA will bring McLeod and Pulaski trail tools.)
In case of weather, check the SCC Facebook Page that morning for cancellation notice, if NO notice by 7am we are working.
