WRT tree removal Saturday July 26 8:00 Farm Rd & WG

Postby Brad C » Thu Jul 24, 2014 6:18 am

Need some people with saws and helpers to clean up the fallen trees reported below.

Meeting at the bike/ped bridge connector path at 8:00 Saturday.

1) Blue near Greenline, going south. Medium size tree across trail head-high. Relatively small job w/ a chainsaw and help.

2) Blue between Walnut Grove and paved path. Large tree w/ lots of branches across trail. Big project requiring at least two chainsaws and help. There's a bypass cut in already but we should restore the main trail.

Shelby Farms Park is notified of the trail day on Saturday. They asked for our usual before and after pictures.

Update:

There are two ~24" trees down on the Blue south of the Green line, one about 2/3 and another 9/10 of the way to the powerline field. These will require a full-size chainsaw but will otherwise be easy to clear.

The powerline field is heavily overgrown so I may try to cut it on Sat. morning if there are enough other helpers.

Here are the results of the work on Saturday July 26.
There were only 3 of us. A little more help would have been great.

As requested I sent the pictures to Shelby Farms. I closed the email with the statement "Not bad for 4 hours work by 3 people."
