Wolf River Trails Work Day, Saturday, June 18
When: 8 am, Saturday, June 18 (work for ~3 hours)
What: Clearing privet and other brush from the Blue and Yellow trails between Walnut Grove Rd. and 5-points
Who: Anyone who wants to help improve the trails (especially those who use them regularly).
Where: Meet at Blue/Yellow trailhead at Walnut Grove Rd. overpass (turn off Walnut Grove Rd. and drive down dirt road to trailhead).
Why: Because the trails are in need of improvement. Some sections are almost impassible due to overgrowth and are unsafe.
How: MSTA has the infrastructure to conduct trail work days, by obtaining clearance from Shelby Farms Park and reporting to the Park on work progress and any problem areas.
Precautions:
- Wear long pants and long sleeves; there is lots of poison ivy.
- Bring and drink lots of water; temps will be 75 F early, rising to 85 F by 11 am.
What to bring: Hand saws, lopping shears, hedge trimmers, machetes, weed wackers—anything that will cut small brush and privet
