That brings up an issue. Shelby Farms trails have the largest and most diverse user groups in terms of use types and abilities. We think that is the place where someone already fell off of and had to be rescued by park rangers and MFD rescue squad.
That incident brought on an immediate reaction to widen the trail for improved access for rescue ATVs, UTVs, and MFD mini-ambulance. Luckily that fervor died down. However, more accidents would mean more rescues and more calls to widen the trail. So if it is desirable to keep the trail a single track instead of being widened to look like the Greenline we need to do this reroute.
We can leave that hazard area open for people who want to "hit IT" but please do not call Shelby Farms or 911 to get rescued. That will stir up the widen the trail argument again.
